<channel><title><![CDATA[Music Always: Piano Fun Player - Playing the Keys Blog]]></title><link><![CDATA[https://www.pianofunplayer.com/playing-the-keys-blog]]></link><description><![CDATA[Playing the Keys Blog]]></description><pubDate>Sat, 08 Feb 2025 00:03:56 -0800</pubDate><generator>Weebly</generator><item><title><![CDATA["Musical Doodling"]]></title><link><![CDATA[https://www.pianofunplayer.com/playing-the-keys-blog/musical-doodling]]></link><comments><![CDATA[https://www.pianofunplayer.com/playing-the-keys-blog/musical-doodling#comments]]></comments><pubDate>Fri, 13 Aug 2021 07:00:00 GMT</pubDate><category><![CDATA[Uncategorized]]></category><guid isPermaLink="false">https://www.pianofunplayer.com/playing-the-keys-blog/musical-doodling</guid><description><![CDATA[I'm admitting that I've love playing, hearing and "doodling around" with music my whole life.&nbsp; At this point I've been around a few years.As you read this blog, the word "doodling" has probably jumped out at you.&nbsp; What I mean, by doodling is to sit at your keyboard, or whatever instrument you play, and just let your ears and fingers guide you.&nbsp; I can hear your question now?&nbsp; "Don't I have to read notes and do what the music says?"The answer is both No and Yes.&nbsp; If you ar [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph"><font color="#2a2a2a">I'm admitting that I've love playing, hearing and "doodling around" with music my whole life.&nbsp; At this point I've been around a few years.<br /><br />As you read this blog, the word <strong>"doodling"</strong> has probably jumped out at you.&nbsp; What I mean, by doodling is to sit at your keyboard, or whatever instrument you play, and just <strong>let your ears and fingers guide you.</strong>&nbsp; I can hear your question now?&nbsp; "Don't I have to read notes and do what the music says?"<br /><br />The answer is both No and Yes.&nbsp; If you are just starting out, <strong>"Doodling"</strong> is just what you want.&nbsp; Create your own sounds, with two or three (even 4 or 5 notes).&nbsp; Start with the idea that your are already a musician.&nbsp; This is the musical truth.&nbsp; We all have music within us, it just wants to come out.&nbsp; <strong>"Doodling" is the way to let it out.</strong><br /><br />As for the "yes", notes will be a part of your path when you are ready to use the written notation of the musical language.&nbsp; But, this is perhaps third or fourth item on your musical list.&nbsp; <strong>Number one is tuning</strong> <strong>your ears.</strong>&nbsp; Start to really listen to sounds around you.&nbsp; Use your voice to sing bits of what you hear.&nbsp; Run to your piano, and "doodle" out those first few notes.&nbsp; Here are&nbsp; a few suggestions:</font><ul><li><font color="#2a2a2a">Commercial jingles</font></li><li><font color="#2a2a2a">Grocery jingles( they play music to get customers to buy more.&nbsp; I've learned quite a few tunes this way)</font></li><li><font color="#2a2a2a">Doodle out those children's songs you already know</font></li><li><font color="#2a2a2a">Start finding your favorite tunes on your instrument</font></li></ul><br /><font color="#2a2a2a">Remember, <strong>" Musical Doodling"</strong> is about letting your "ears" guide your hands.&nbsp; I didn't put You Tube on this list because we want to awaken your musical self through your "ears".</font><br /><br /><font color="#2a2a2a">I invite you to join me for some "doodling" in my Summer Beginner Blues Piano Magic camp.&nbsp; You'll be learning to listen and play.&nbsp; Blues piano is a wonderful starter for learning to create and express your musical self.<br /><br />Please email me at ruth@pianofunplayer.com.&nbsp; Subject Line:&nbsp; I'm ready for "Blues Piano Magic Camp.<br /><br />I look forward to hear from you.&nbsp; Let me know how you're "Doodling"along.</font><br /><br /><font color="#2a2a2a">Let's Play,<br /><br />Ruth</font><br /><br />P.
